Reacting Flows


We are interested in the synthesis and transformation of particles, as relevant to soot formation and materials synthesis.


We have developed a method for charging nanoparticles in a flow using UV light, and collecting the current, which is proportional to the surface area of the particles. This allows both direct measurement of the total surface area, and by changing the voltage applied, also a measurement ot the particle size.
