Qixiang CHENG received a B.S. degree from the Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, China, in 2010, and a Ph.D. degree from the University of Cambridge, Cambridge, U.K., in 2014. After that, the joined the Shannon Laboratory, Huawei, China, where he researched future optical computing systems. In September 2016, he joint Lightwave Research Laboratory, Columbia University, New York, NY, USA as a Postdoctoral Researcher, and after one year and a half, he was promoted to a Research Scientist.

He returned to the University of Cambridge as a University Lecturer in photonic devices and systems in January 2020. His current research interests focus on system-wide photonic integrated circuits for optical communication and optical computing applications, including a range of optical functional circuits, such as packet-, circuit-, and wavelength-level optical switch fabrics, massively parallel transceivers, optical neural networks, and optical network-on-chip.
