Rotherham schoolkids get the Interact experience at Magna Science Adventure Centre
Fifty-two Year 6 students from Rotherham took part in a fun-packed science challenge day on Friday May 28th, organised by the University of Cambridge and Rotherham LEA.
The students, all aged about 11, visited the Fire, Water, Earth and Air pavilions at the Magna Science Adventure Centre in the morning to gain inspiration for their big challenge – designing a computer game to help 9 to 11-year-olds learn about forces and electricity.
In the afternoon, the students worked on their projects in small groups in the Centre for Excellence in New Technologies (CENT), where they devised names, characters, story formats and introductory trailers for their computer games.
They were assisted by staff from Rotherham LEA schools; the workshop was run by the University of Cambridge’s Engineering Interact project in conjunction with Homerton College Access.
Take a look at the fantastic presentations that the team came up with for future Interact games. (Please note that the following links are PowerPoint files, which should load up in a new window.)
