Dr Maria Vasilopoulou received her degree in
physics from the University of Athens and her PhD in functional materials
for nanolithography from the Department of Chemical Engineering at the National
Technical University of Athens. She subsequently served as an adjunct
professor at the University of West Attica and as a research collaborator
at the Institute of Microelectronics, National Center
for Scientific Research "Demokritos" (NCSRD), where she
established a new laboratory for organic optoelectronics. She currently
holds the position of director of research at the Institute of Nanoscience
and Nanotechnology, NCSRD, where she leads the Organic and Perovskite
Optoelectronics Laboratory. Her research focuses on optoelectronic devices
based on emerging semiconductors, as well as on quantum physics and related
device applications. Dr Vasilopoulou has authored more than 150 scientific
publications in international journals and conference proceedings and holds
five patents. She was a visiting academic in the Nanomaterials and
Spectroscopy group at the Cambridge Graphene Centre in July 2026.
