There are many applications for this type of approach from evaluating the risk of global warming and environmental changes to monitoring pollutants in air and water. Successful implementation of such a methodology will aid environmental management and planning. I have organised conferences and workshops in two major areas related to this research: non-linear signal processing and managing uncertainty. |

Some
of my research involves using a methodology based on statistical and signal
processing techniques to predict low-probability-high-risk events. Corporations
and governments are making risk decisions based on perceptions of such
extreme events - frequently these decisions are taken with an inadequate
framework.
