RESEARCH

Internal collaborations

UCAM Department of Engineering and EPFL will offer advanced training for industrial partners within the consortium. Key R&D persons can spend up to one week in Cambridge for advanced training in power semiconductor devices, CAD simulations and modelling. UCAM is running a general MPhil course on power microelectronics (4 sessions) and members of the consortium will be welcome to participate free. General training to the public to promote public awareness will be organised via workshops and seminars.

Workshops

Following workshops on power devices and smart-power organised at Cambridge University and EPFL in year 2 and year 3 either within or alongside the following conferences. The workshops will have invited guests from other key groups in Europe as well as presentations from the consortium.

The details of these specific public dissemination of ROBUSPIC projects are;

  • ISIE2005: IEEE International Symposium on  Industrial  Electronics, June  20- 23, 2005 , Dubrovnik, Croatia. Special session chaired by F. Udrea including ROBUSPIC papers. More details can be found here.
  • ISPSD 2006: The 18th International Symposium on Power Semiconductor Devices and ICs, June  04- 08, 2006 , Naples, Italy.  A satellite workshop organised by ROBUSPIC and chaired by  Prof. Ettore Napoli . More details can be found here.
  • ESSDERC 2006: 36th European Solid-State Device Research Conference, 18 - 22 September 2006, Montreux, Switzerland. A workshop organised by ROBUSPIC and chiared by R. Gillon (AMI Semiconductor) and C. Anghel (EPFL)
    More details can be found here.

Trainings

One course at Cambridge to general public and industry on power semiconductor devices, modules, ICs and specific modelling in year 3. The course will cover :

  • Overview of power devices
  • Power Integrated Circuits leading the way for more efficient energy use
  • Modelling of power devices for use in power ICs
  • Applications of smart power and PICs
  • Demonstrative lab in using modelling tools for PICs

Conferences

One workshop in year 3 attached to ISPSD 2006 in Europe. The ISPSD symposium (International Symposium on Power semiconductor Devices and Integrated Circuits) is the major forum for dissemination of results in the area of power devices and integrated circuits. The ISPSD 2003 took place in Cambridge and was a great success. The conference will move to Japan and US for 2004 and 2005 and will return to Europe in 2006. The aim of organising a workshop attached to the conference is to raise the awareness of the research carried out by this consortium and exchange valuable expertise with the leading academic and industrial groups in the field.

Below are some of the related conferences;
