Ruoyang Du received his Bachelor Degree in Electronic Information Engineering from Zhejiang University (China) in 2010. The title of his undergraduate thesis was "Research on observation circuit of maximum power point tracker for PV panels". Currently he is a PhD student supervised by Dr. Paul Robertson in the Photonics and Sensors Group of the Electrical Engineering Division, Department of Engineering, University of Cambridge. His research topic is to develop a low cost, electricity generating system for domestic applications using a turbine-driven permanent magnet generator. He will develop the system control and switch-mode power electronics to generate a 50 Hz mains power, whilst also producing heated water.

His other research interests include:

  • Power generating system control
  • Power conditioning circuits design
  • Power generating devices design
