Electric vehicles are obviously beneficial for environmentally friendly transport systems, being non-polluting. We are looking at more efficient ways of converting the electric power to torque using novel combinations of motors and electric drives.

It is important to convert the available power efficiently over the whole speed range of the vehicle. Normal cars have mechanical gear boxes to do this, so what we are doing is providing an equivalent electronic gear box for electric cars.
