Alison Mitchell

Alison joined the Department in 2001 as an administrator performing diverse duties which included compiling the Departmental weekly news bulletin and updating the Administration Procedures pages on the CUED website.

She joined the Multimedia Group as a research assistant in 2002 to assist with the development of web-based promotional and teaching materials whilst retaining certain editorial responsibilities associated with her previous role. She also arranges information for display on the plasma screen.

Alison maintains the website for the project CONVURT (CONtrol of Vibrations from Underground Railway Traffic) aimed at predicting and minimising ground-borne vibrations caused by metro rail systems which create noise and disturbance in adjacent habitation.

Background Information

Alison graduated in 1995 in Modern History at Dundee University and gained her M.Phil in International Relations the following year at Lucy Cavendish College, Cambridge. She worked in publishing for three years and gained experience in all key stages in the production process of electronic and print publications for use in government, commercial and educational institutions and libraries. She held responsibility for scheduling and co-ordinating projects from acquisition of data through to publication, including writing, editing and proofreading technical and promotional material, abstracts and press releases.
