Professor Shôn Ffowcs WilliamsProfessor Shôn Ffowcs Williams was invited by Rolls Royce to lead a research consortium to solve the Concorde noise problem in the late 60s when he was still at Imperial College, London. When he moved to Cambridge in 1973, the Concorde project moved too. When he finished working on the Concorde in 1975, he formed a company for aeronautic research in Cambridge, Topexpress, which employed many of his former graduate students. Still Professor of Acoustics in Cambridge, and now Master of Emmanuel, Ffowcs Williams is a strong believer in the values of links with industry. His research has been varied including a cure for snoring. |
