Socials Secretary

There are two main areas to this job. The first is organising the termly events such as end of term socials, formal halls and booking events like Toxic8. However the major part of this role is organising the Garden Party in the Easter term. Most of the organisation for this event has to take place in the Easter term so you have to be organised to get it all done before exams start.

The position as second Social Secretary is primarily to organise the Annual Dinner, though also to assist the other Social Secretary in the additional socials that take place throughout the year. The Annual Dinner usually takes place in February and requires a fair amount of time to organise. The work really starts in the Michaelmas term with the securing of a venue and perhaps an exclusive sponsor, and from then on is a continual process requiring frequent though small inputs of time. It is an extremely rewarding role as you create the event piece by piece and has plenty of scope to inject your own ideas to make the event unique. Organisational, budgeting and negotiation skills are key to this role.
