Junior Treasurer

Number of Positions: 1

Currently held by: Joyce Moore Joyce

Note: This post is only available to members of the current committee.

The junior treasurer role essentially involves the management of the four bank accounts which the Engineering Society holds. However, as the second most senior member of the committee, you may often be called upon by the chairman to help out with any of the other roles of the committee.

You must enjoy playing around with numbers in order to provide each section of the committee with a budget, ensure that they stick to their budget and to alter the budget when this proves impossible. You also need to establish a good working relationship with everyone on the committee as their co-operation is essential.

You must be prepared to be doing work for the society every week as there is a constant stream of invoices and claims to be dealt with. However, the work load does not vary massively over the year so it is quite easy to establish a routine.

Basically, you need

  • To have a good head for figures
  • To be able to get along with everyone else on the committee
  • To understand that this is definitely not an easy position
  • To want to have loads of fun over the next year
  • To want to play with lots of money (not literally)
