Board of Advisors(BOA) Secretary

Number of Positions: 1

Currently held by: Wu Ai Leong Wu Ai Leong

The Board of Advisors is the group of companies that sponsor CUES and with whom we run a range of events. As BoA secretary, you will be in charge of their relationship with CUES. Your primary responsibilities will be:

· Raising a healthy income from the BoA
· Making sure that the companies pay their annual membership subscription
· Keeping our representatives informed about CUES by sending out a termly bulletin letter describing our events for that term, inviting BoA reps to meetings, dinners etc, and including any CUES publications such as the termplanner.
· Organising the annual BoA meeting where the company reps meet the committee and discuss CUES.
· Putting BoA reps and committee members in touch to organise specific events involving BoA companies.
· Keeping the company representatives happy so that they stay on the BoA.

The main challenge facing the new BoA secretary will be to enlarge the BoA slightly and to improve the way in which CUES and the BoA work together. The more demanding BoA companies must be encouraged to invest more human resources in CUES, and to commit time to organising original, and interesting events for our members. The BoA secretary should try to replace any companies that leave the BoA with organisations whose activities will appeal more to our members.

All in all, BoA is a great job. It offers challenges that you won't normally meet in student life, and will probably give you your first taste of negotiation in a business context. Not only does it look great on your CV, but you will get loads of contacts in graduate recruitment at major companies, giving you a real head start as you enter the world of engineering.
