Cathy is an accomplished international strategic business developer & technologist, centred on over 20 years of ‘hands-on’ experience in defining, leading & delivering on innovative electronics programmes. Her portfolio covers the full spectrum of leading new process technologies from their innovative inception & technology business due diligence, through to successful industrialisation & product revenues within major international commercial partnerships.

She began her technical career with a BSc (Hons) degree in Physics from Bristol University, UK. Subsequently she joined the Philips Electronics corporate, as part of an international R&D career championing & delivering on collaborative programmes across Korea, The Netherlands & USA. Cathy’s “Printable AMLCD” technology portfolio, developed under the LG.Philips LCD Joint Venture, is now part of LG Displays’ commercialisation of “Next Generation TFT Printing Technologies” (announced at the SID 2008 conference).

As a recognised domain expert in the field of disruptive thin film electronics technologies, she took up the new role of CTO at Plastic Logic, Cambridge UK; a University of Cambridge spin-out. Having raised over $200Mn from top-tier global venture capitalists, Plastic Logic is now entering volume production with novel printing-based manufacturing processes for a revolutionary light-weight & robust paper-like A4-sized e-Reader display product.

She is currently Founder & CEO of Curling Consulting: Value creation from innovative technologies. This business covers an advisory portfolio of world-wide industrial, venture capitalist & university clients across a variety of players within the electronics industry. Activities are centred on the delivery of growth strategy, key partnering agreements, investment decisions & technical direction for new business opportunities through to successful commercialisation, as well as an international portfolio of Board-level advisory roles. Cathy is also regularly invited to present to diverse international audiences across the technology & innovative business management space.
