As manager of displays research at HP Laboratories in Bristol, UK, Adrian’s group conducts research into novel display technologies to enable new imaging products for Hewlett-Packard. The group has active collaborations with many specialist companies and university groups, particularly in the UK. A key area of current research focus is paper-like displays. Adrian has been at Hewlett Packard for 22 years and has also lead groups in areas such as graphical user interfaces, knowledge-based systems and electronic publishing. He has served on a number of UK government advisory panels including Foresight, LINK and the Technology Programme. Previously, he was a director of Cambridge Interactive Systems, responsible for one of the first commercial solid modelling systems for Computer Aided Design. Adrian has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the University of Nottingham and PhD in Computational Geometry from the University of East Anglia. He is a Chartered Mathematician and a member of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications, the British Liquid Crystal Society and of the Society for Information Display. |
