Professor Gehan Amaratunga is the head of the Electronics, Power and Energy Conversion (EPEC) Research Group within the Electrical Engineering Division of the Cambridge University Engineering Department. He is also a Fellow of Churchill College, Cambridge.

He has published over 350 research articles in journals and conference proceedings. Professor Amaratunga is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical Engineers and a Chartered Engineer. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering in 2004.

  1. Nanoscale materials and device design for electronics and energy conversion.
  2. Novel materials and device structures for low cost, high efficiently solar cells.
  3. Power electronics for optimum grid connection of large photovoltaic electric generation systems.
  4. Integrated and discrete semiconductor devices for power switching and control.
